Book of the Week: I Do Not Eat Children
For this week’s Book of the Week, yes, it’s a picture book again… #SorryNotSorry
Just released, this is I Do Not Eat Children, written and illustrated by Marcus Cutler, designed by Carolyn Bull, and published by Little, Brown, and Company.
It is hilarious and so expressively drawn, and there’s a moral to the story.
But it also fits so solidly into my funny books about death collection, a.k.a our memento mori collection, that it needed to be acquired.
It all starts with a happy scene of children playing…
But then someone starts looking a little guilty, epically portrayed in a single image…
And to see where it goes from there, you’ll just have to pick up a copy, or come by for a visit! (hint hint, what’s that yellow thing in the bottom right hand corner of the picture above…)
And just before we go, while we’re on the topic of memento mori, we also received an unexpected bonus book this week, A Small Book of Exemplary Deaths by Matt Sturrock and illustrated by Lara Galustian, with cover designed by Lena Yang and interior by Karl Hunt. It’s exactly as the title describes.
