Small Press Saturday: Douglas & McIntyre

Happy Saturday!

We are back in Canada this week and featuring a small press with history and presence in the Canadian publishing scene. I am happy to share about Douglas & McIntyre this week.

Douglas & McIntyre has a lengthy history that includes being acquired by Harbour Publishing. You can learn more on the “About Us” page on their website.

Since they began, Douglas & McIntyre has published diverse voices from marginalized communities and continue to do so. They also publish predominantly Canadian authors. They are an award-winning independent publisher that has won a variety of awards including the Governor General’s Literary Award and the Scotiabank Giller Prize. If you check out their list of recent Featured Award Winners you will be impressed with the quality of work they publish alongside the breadth of voices represented in their award-winning titles.

Many of their titles have caught my eye over the years, mostly due to the gorgeous and quality covers they do for their books, but I also do enjoy how innovative, interesting, and Canadian their nonfiction titles are. Check them out – you might find a great read you weren’t expecting to find.

Happy reading!

– Stacey
