Book of the Week: Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
This week’s Book of the Week has already gotten a bit of coverage, but I decided I wanted to make it my pick anyways. In the spirit of romance and friendship for V/Palentine’s Week – and because it features a bookstore! – I am excited to share Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree, published last November by Tor and featuring cover art by Carson Lowmiller.
A prequel to the equally lovely Legends & Lattes that came out in 2022, Bookshops & Bonedust follows the early adventures of my current favourite orc, Viv, after she gets sidelined by a battle injury to a seemingly sleepy seaside town. There she meets Fern, the grumpy rattkin owner of Thistleburr Booksellers, Maylee, a dwarf who runs Sea-Song Bakery, and Satchel… you’re just going to have to meet Satchel…
So if you love bookstores, romance, pastries, talking skeletons, and an evil necromancer thrown in for intrigue, definitely check out Bookshops & Bonedust.
